Built by Oceanco in 2018, the 106.7-metre BLACK PEARL is one of the most remarkable sailing yachts ever constructed. Combining the scale and facilities of a large superyacht with pioneering sailing technology, she represents an extraordinary achievement in modern yacht design. Her three towering Dynarig masts, distinctive silhouette and innovative approach to energy efficiency make her instantly recognisable, while her richly detailed interiors offer a rather different interpretation of contemporary superyacht luxury.
Developed in collaboration with renowned designers including Ken Freivokh, Nuvolari Lenard and Gerard P. Villate, BLACK PEARL accommodates up to 12 guests in a flexible arrangement of five to seven cabins. With a professional crew of 26, an extensive selection of leisure facilities and impressive outdoor spaces, she offers a charter experience quite unlike that of a conventional sailing yacht.
An engineering marvel under sail
At the heart of BLACK PEARL's design is her remarkable sailing system. Three 70-metre masts support an innovative Dynarig arrangement, allowing her substantial sail area to be deployed in approximately seven minutes. The system combines sophisticated automation with impressive sailing performance, making the experience of watching BLACK PEARL under full sail one of the defining moments of a charter aboard her.
Environmental considerations were equally important throughout her development. Designed with the ambition of crossing the Atlantic without relying on fossil fuels, BLACK PEARL incorporates advanced energy-management technologies and systems intended to reduce fuel consumption and environmental impact.
Guests can enjoy the spectacle of sailing from the spacious flybridge, where comfortable seating and sunbathing areas provide uninterrupted views of the sails and surrounding sea.
Classical elegance and distinctive interior design
While BLACK PEARL's exterior and engineering are unmistakably modern, her interiors embrace a more classical aesthetic. Inspired by the Louis XVI period, the design features polished mahogany, intricate woodwork, gold detailing, bespoke silk carpets and richly textured fabrics.
The result is an interior that feels more reminiscent of an elegant private residence than a conventional contemporary superyacht. Formal entertaining spaces sit alongside comfortable lounges and more intimate areas, allowing guests to enjoy the yacht in very different ways throughout the day.
Guest accommodation – five or seven cabins
One of BLACK PEARL's particularly interesting features is the flexibility of her guest accommodation. She welcomes up to 12 guests, with the option of arranging her accommodation across five or seven ensuite cabins according to the composition of the charter party.
In her standard five-cabin configuration, the impressive full-beam Master Suite features a super king-size bed, separate his-and-hers bathrooms, two walk-in dressing rooms and a private lounge. Two generously proportioned VIP suites each offer a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom and private sitting room, while an additional double cabin and a twin cabin with Pullman berth complete the accommodation.
For groups requiring more individual cabins, the private lounges adjoining the two VIP suites can be converted into additional double staterooms. This creates a seven-cabin layout comprising the Master Suite, five double cabins and one twin cabin, all with ensuite facilities. Two of the additional double cabins feature convertible sofa beds.
This versatility is particularly appealing for larger families or groups of friends who prefer separate accommodation without compromising the overall guest capacity.
Dining and entertainment on board BLACK PEARL
BLACK PEARL offers several settings for dining and entertaining, from her richly decorated formal dining room to the open-air dining area on the upper deck. Whether enjoying an elaborate dinner or a relaxed meal outside, guests benefit from the attentive service of her experienced crew and the culinary expertise of the onboard chef.
Among her most unusual features is an enormous exterior cinema screen measuring approximately 9 by 14 metres, integrated into the mizzen mast. This transforms the outdoor deck into a spectacular setting for film evenings beneath the stars.
Another particularly memorable space is the wellness lounge, which can also be used as an evening retreat. Its decorative ceiling recreates the constellation visible above Rotterdam on the evening of BLACK PEARL's launch in 2018 — a thoughtful detail that reflects the individuality of the yacht's interior design.
Wellness, relaxation and outdoor living
Despite her sailing credentials, BLACK PEARL offers many of the facilities more commonly associated with the world's largest motor yachts.
Her dedicated wellness facilities include a sauna, hammam, massage room and fully equipped gym. The versatile beach club provides an inviting place to relax close to the water and can be transformed into a comfortable lounge.
A jet-stream swimming pool on the main deck allows guests to enjoy a swim while remaining on board, while the upper-deck Jacuzzi offers another peaceful setting for relaxation with views across the sea.
Throughout her exterior decks, carefully arranged seating and lounging areas provide ample space for socialising or finding a quieter corner to enjoy the surroundings.
Tenders and Water Toys
BLACK PEARL carries an impressive collection of tenders and water toys, allowing guests to make the most of their time at anchor.
Her tender fleet includes a 10.4-metre Pascoe limousine tender, a 9.8-metre Pascoe Beachlander and a 5.65-metre Williams tender, providing comfortable transport ashore and flexibility for exploring the coastline.
For more active days on the water, her equipment includes jet skis, Seabobs, a Fliteboard, kayaks, paddleboards, water skis, wakeboards and snorkelling equipment.
